Hi, I’m Jeff Maki. I’m a Creative Director and writer who’s spent the last 20+ years building ideas and solutions for great brands with talented people.
I got my start at TBWA\Chiat\Day LA during one of its legendary runs and started taking portfolio classes whenever I could. I spent a couple of years answering phones, helping on new business, assisting Lee Clow and other top CD’s, and doing just about anything that put me close to the work. Eventually, one of those Creative Directors gave me a shot on a pitch. We won, I got promoted, and started learning from the same people I’d been supporting days earlier. That experience shaped how I work to this day.
After meeting my Texas-born wife, we made the still-slightly-weird move to Austin, where I found a long-term home at GSD&M. Over the years, I’ve had the chance to land new business both big and not so big, lead integrated campaigns across disciplines and help grow teams the same way others once invested in me.
For a decade, I was the creative lead on the U.S. Air Force account—working as an embedded partner across creative, social, digital, experiential, and partnerships. It was a rare opportunity to build something meaningful over time, with a deeply collaborative, unified team.
I got into this business to make great work. I’ve stayed because of the people I get to make it with.
Let’s connect and see what we can build together.
