OWN THE SKY

A lot can happen on any given day at Edwards Air Force Base. Give it a few days, a couple of A-list directors, and a Hollywood jet customized for air-to-air filming, and something magical happens. When the chance came to appear in theaters before Top Gun: Maverick—a Navy film about Navy pilots—the Air Force saw an opportunity to make a memorable impression. Filmed by Director Doug Liman.

"...hold on to your popcorn because we are bringing the Air Force to your seat,” Maj. Gen. Ed Thomas, AFRS commander, said in a statement. "The air superiority in this video just gives you a glimpse of a small percentage of what is possible when you join us.”

MOMENTS

GENERAL CQ BROWN JR.

On a predawn drive to Edwards Air Force Base, we saw a tweet in which General CQ Brown Jr. was talking about the diversity of pilots in the Air Force. Moved by the sentiment from the then-Chief of Staff of the Air Force, we asked him if we could film him sharing his thoughts. Filmed at Edwards Air Force Base in California by Director David Ayer.
